I was really bleak with the weather on Friday coz I thought for sure that come 5:45 am on Saturday morning it was either going to be blowing gales or raining buckets (neither of which would have been conducive to a good time for the race or health afterwards) But I woke up opened the door and........... it was perfect! If you consider perfect to be 8 degrees hahahhah. But temp means nothing, resistance - everything.
We got down there, registered and whatnot, and as he was counting down to the bang, I looked at my watch and the battery was dead!! It was fine when I arrived, so who knows what was up...In a nutshell I ran blind..... the whole way. Also, I don't remember there being so many effing hills! But flip, I thought I have to just push so that whatever I finish with I know I "couldn't" have done any better. That being the theory on paper I guess. Anyway finished and asked the guy in front of me what we did and he said 56:20 and I still counted the seconds it took me to get to start banner so I knew (mild OCD haha) But to be fair when you're trying to beat a time, the seconds do count :) Anyway it was 10 secs. So although I'm not breaking world records.... I did break mine... by half a minute, so I was quite happy with that. It's not a lot, but more than that it's just cool I guess... coz first time you do well you always think distance was maybe wrong, or it was a fluke, haha. Anyway... enough about that.
Mother's day and mom's bday was tied in one on Sunday (even though her birthday is only tomorrow) - she just figured with all the fam together - it made sense. She got a lot of chocolate and messages................................. chilled Sunday vibes.........
