A True Legend..

It's strange, I'm not one to associate any of my feelings when it comes to someone famous that I didn't know that passes away............. But I can't get rid of my goosebumps. I keep going cold with every song, every tribute, every voice clip they play, it's really more overwhelming that I imagined it would be. Anyway rest in peace Mandela, I was eager to watch the movie and read the books because freedom fighting and slavery issues affect me to the core for some reason, they always have....... So in his honour, with not much else going on, I think this weekend I will go watch the movie. A Sombre, bittersweet day.......

Cotton On's pretty amaze too......................

See you soon Walmer Park............. I'm guessing................

Red Bull - crazy talk

Red Bull Racing takes the Constructor's and Vettel his 9th consecutive win, winning 13 overall for my first season of actively watching Formula one. No surprises with Red Bull winning though, so I'm hoping that next year when things start to even out as far as the car spec goes, they'll still remain ahead of the pack. Was really cool to watch, though I'll admit the excitement levels aren't at a all time high for me during the race. But nonetheless, totally addicted!! Haha. Mark Webber is out, so Daniel Recciardo is taking his place... Which makes sense seeing as how he's sponsored by them. I was trying to fathom that whole scenario of Red Bull sponsoring drivers other than the drivers of the red bull racing team. All makes sense, so yeah keen to see that next year, wonder how he'll fair in comparison to Mark. Anyway....................... it's all over, another 111 days before 2014 F1, so yeah, I'm keen to follow a full season! :)

One the best things I've read (The response to this picture)

Image

Dear Melissa,

I have to hand it to you. That pic of you sitting gloating triumphantly behind the huge male lion you killed has gone viral.

I’m not saying that people aren’t admiring your big strong teeth or even your big strong breast implants. But your timing was all kinds of special. A week after we hear that the black rhino is officially extinct, you post this picture of yourself on all your social media sites. Now you are front page news in many countries. Even the comedian Ricky Gervais has weighed in. He thinks you are a great hunt. Typo.

When a man wantonly destroys one of the works of man we call him a vandal. What then do we call a person who shoots a wild animal? Not for food, or even for their pelt. Just for pleasure.

Help me on this. I want to understand what frisson of pleasure do you get when you see a creature toppling to its knees? Which do you prefer? A crocodile? Or a giant bear? Which turns you on more? Heaven knows you have killed enough species to be an expert.

Do you have any feelings at all? Apart from vanity, that is.

I see from all your pictures, you wouldn’t dream of going on a hunt without heavily mascara-ed eyelashes, a piece of statement jewellery, your glossy hair, neatly braided…
Perhaps that adds to the revulsion people feel when looking at you with your ‘trophies.’ Because you see, sweetie, equality of the sexes, like Communism, is great on paper. In reality it is something else. Biologically a woman is the giver of life.

When she takes life it is an aberration. When she takes life for fun it is perverse.
Your utter disregard for animals and nature is breath-taking.
I read that you desired to kill an adult male lion as it is the most sought-after trophy by wealthy foreign hunters.

The Maroi ‘Conservancy’ gang – Hannes, Laurens and Julious (sic), did your bidding and imported a lion to the area so that you could kill it. I know that you know that this is called canned hunting.
Trophy hunting is an obscenity beyond the obvious one. Trophy hunting for lion is killing healthy members of an imperiled species.

Do you know or even care that when an adult male lion is killed, the destabilization of that lion’s pride can lead to more lion deaths as outside males compete to take over the pride? Read National Geographic and learn a few things. I know I did.

Once a new male is in the dominant position, he will often kill the cubs sired by the pride’s previous leader, resulting in the loss of an entire lion generation within the pride.

Trophy hunting by definition is counter-evolutionary. It is based on selectively taking the large, robust, and healthy males from a population for a hunter’s trophy room.

These are the same crucial individuals that in a natural system would live long, full lives, protecting their mates and cubs and contributing their genes to future generations.

See why everyone thinks you are bloodless, callous and recidivist?

Your grinning happily behind a dead lion has shocked people in a country that is almost unshockable.

In South Africa rape and murder are commonplace. Let’s be more explicit. Baby rapes are prevalent. But it took your narcissistic exploits to energize a country that is compassion-fatigued.
Amid the sad and irritating news which leaves the populace numbed by your career of legalized poaching – murdering – animals touched raw nerve ends. Hunting for sport is bloody and antiquated.
In a mere four days the Stop Melissa Bachman Facebook page has had over 95,000 hits.

You awakened a vast tribe of anti-hunters who are intent on urging the international animal protection community to muster support for the plight of animals and the environment.

For that I thank you.

The website of the Maroi Conservancy – your enablers – has crashed. When the site was up there was some feeble defense along the lines of ‘providing employment to the locals’ and ‘conservation’.
Since when does killing an almost endangered species count as ‘conservation?’ You’ve been drinking too many Klipdrifs and coke with the manne.

The money that does come into Africa from hunting pales in comparison to the billions and billions generated from tourists who come just to watch wildlife.

According to National Geographic, despite the claims that trophy hunting brings millions of dollars in revenue to local people in otherwise poor communities, there is no proof of this.
Even pro-hunting organizations like the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation have reported that only 3 percent of revenue from trophy hunting ever makes it to the communities affected by hunting.

National Geographic published a story in which Jeff Flocken, the North American director for the International Fund for Animal Welfare wrote; The United States government is considering whether to add lions to the list of species protected by the Endangered Species Act. Such protection would ban the importation of dead trophy lions into the U.S.

A recent study led by a scientist from Duke University showed that as few as 32,000 lions are left. Approximately 600 lions are killed every year on trophy hunts – 80% are killed by Americans.
A few years ago I read about a South African woman who was attacked by a male ostrich. She engaged it in a fight to the death with her bare hands and managed to strangle it. An ostrich has a kick stronger than a mule and their toe-nails are sharper than a serpent’s tooth. She was knocked to the ground several times and suffered a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung. Perhaps the whole of the human race would have celebrated your “victory” if you had been attacked by the male lion and managed to kill it with your bare hands.

I don’t know if you have ever heard of a bloke called Mahatma Gandhi. I don’t think his name comes up a great deal in the bomas you hang out in after a good day of killing. He once said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

Given this premise I am afraid you and your animal killing chums are egregious, recidivist and morally bankrupt.

Yours etc. Jani

P.S. Isn’t it deeply ironic that “Melissa” means honey and sweet

There's a piece missing?

A lot of baking going on, this one I just made.....because. I suppose I had to taste it.

She

She lives a life
Guided by her heart
Directed by the stars
Choosing a tough path
That lies so very far....
..Away

While she walks
She kicks the dirt
Shakes off her skirt
Wonders about the words
Earlier that she heard....
..That day

With sorrow in her eyes
All around demise
And a look that belies
Telling herself lies
About the unequivocal disguise....
.. Of pain

All's fair in love and war

When you are strong for others,
when you believe in others,
when you trust others,
when you forgive others for how they have wronged you,
when you choose to smile instead of cry,
when you hope instead of despair,
when you give everything,
when you hold yourself together,
when you're understanding of others,

That's being someone that another can count on for the truth,
someone you can depend on to always be there,
someone you can turn to for help in any situation,
someone that will accept you for who you are and aren't,
someone that will go to the ends of the earth for you,
someone that will put your happiness before theirs,

That's someone that then deserves you to be strong for them,
to believe in them,
to trust them,
to forgive them when they wrong you,
smile with them,
have hope in them,
give them everything,
and be understanding of them........................

Movies that stir

Music discovery isn't my only interest... For a little while now, I've been scouting for those proper movies that generally don't reach our shores or our TV... They're not commercially acceptable for box office, yet win awards on the other side for so many different elements that make it brilliant.. I was so happy to have 'the perks of being a wallflower' as one of them...

FU Monday

Things that pissed me off today........................ Clearly I'm still angry, seeing as how I feel the need to write about it

1. Britney Spears pathetic new song - "work"... It makes me wanna end my life early
2. Still not getting my car back today so I can't LEAVE the F*king office and I really need to
3. Considering asking honestly anyone at this point to take me home and realising my house keys are in my mom's car still......................... idiot.
4. The f*king office phones and the fact that I CAN'T dial out, because for 3 weeks now, Telkom still doesn't give a shit.
5. Myself.... I pissed myself off, in so many ways that I don't deserve supper tonight
6. I'm hungry and don't have any damn peanuts and no transport to take me to get any
7. My mom was gonna fetch me at 3pm but now she can only fetch me at 4pm (stuck where I really don't want to be for just a little longer)
8. Thinking about how frustrated I am and not knowing the solution to ease it
9. Realising that hip hop is dead because that's all the radio plays and the radio keeps playing incessant shit.

Wakaheaven

When I saw this, I knew it was a need............ yesterday nix, cath, j9 and myself went to the Boardwalk to try out Wakaberry. It's the new frozen yoghurt bar in PE. I was in NO way disappointed, with a mix of flavours of frozen yoghurt and toppings or fillers that honestly freaked my tastebuds out! It's a queuing system where you grab your tub and pour in whatever frozen yoghurt's you choose... one, a couple or all, hahaha. You get charged per weight of the tub in the end and it seems that regardless of what you chuck in there, if you bring it to the brim, you're basically in for R40 at most. Mine was R37. Totally worth it.. So you shuffle past these ATM style yoghurt machines and then get to the toppings, which range from crushed romany creams, to whispers, sour worms, jelly tots, wine gums, astros and even fruit pieces.... Pretty amaze!

So we got our froyo's and parked ourselves on the grass outside... So yum, So going to be visited a lot in summer :)

And that's how it's done

Jeepers - 4 times world champion in a consecutive row at 26 years old................. Some people are born to shine. So he's beat records in Formula one with this accomplishment and flip, it was so much fun to watch in the end when finished his 60th lap at the Indian GP. Hahaha, breaking rules by taking his car through to parc ferme and doing doughnuts, I mean? :). But sometimes breaking rules are completely in order. A few pics of the emotion at the end of the race. Went cold watching, only understanding bits of what he was feeling at that moment. Webber retired, alternator issues... which sucked, coz I dig Redbull and think considering he's retiring from the sport altogether, he deserves to race each one to the finish what with only 3 left now..... But shit happens, weird for one car and not the other from the team, but anyway............. And Sebastian, yeah he's a hot head. And people have a love hate relationship with him it seems - from what I've read etc, but when you're good, you're good. In the end - there's no comments column on the score card, no doubt this guy's doing mad things.....

"Vettel dominates to win fourth title
The 26-year-old has won six races in a row and if he wins the remaining three races in Abu Dhabi, the United States and Brazil he will equal the record for consecutive wins in the F1 world championship, set by Italian Alberto Ascari in 1952-53."

GP

Passions, hobbies and interests are always sparked on from some place or another and at any given time in one's life... It's no secret I'm into cars... Performance? Meh... Getting into the understanding and excitement it creates for one when someone enhances and modifies it and then sees the output and desired result. But for me it's been look, feel, overall drive and speed... But as far as formula one was considered, I never took a really enthusiastic liking to it. I knew who the top guys are, I had a basic understanding of what was happening if I watched it, was a fan of Ferrari more over than of a particular driver. But ya, never followed it. Then I watched "Rush". We'll let's just say when I watch or hear anything, my opinion is always a result of how it moved me. So everyone watched, said it was good, but they were there to watch a movie. I witnessed a story, a way of life, if I carry on I'm going to sound nuts, and they say it's better to say less then everything you're thinking. Keep some for yourself. Hahaha so ill do that. But I was super excited to watch the next F1 race and actually appreciate the risk and the vibe that those guys are out there experiencing. I mean it's pretty intense. Racing of any kind is..... Which yesterday, upon thinking bout the local regionals that happen here is as well. Any Motorsport has it's risk and therefore intensity... I watched the Japan F1 start to finish - loved it and learnt a lot about the logistics and processes of everything.. As I sit here I'm about to watch the India F1.

Long story short, I never expected to enjoy it the way I apparently am. I don't enjoy watching sport in general (unless I have a bet going hahahaahahah). But Motorsport somehow has my attention And in a cool way. So yeah dig redbull racing... But I'm a Sebastian fan. I think he's just an insane driver, so I'm keen to watch his future in the sport regardless of what team he's in.

For now, it's "STARTO" time.. Haha

Life's little conundrum

If my happiness is reliant on me and what I do to ensure it, then I am the one who needs to set the expectations bar at a level that doesn't allow me to experience unhappiness. But surely if I realize that every situation that if face whereby happiness is the result, and I understand that I am the reason for it...... then don't I realize deep down that no one is making me happy... Actually? "I'm" the one making me happy? That realization itself, unfortunately can't be tied to happiness.... Sensibly so... So then why test people, just to see if they'll disappoint? They will! And that makes one unhappy. So in theory by doing that, I've screwed up the systematics of what brings about 'said' happiness.

So life's quotes and meanings, and in turn- theories- on how to acquire happiness lie in the fact that we make it happen ourselves and don't depend on others for it. So testing people and falling out as a result is actually the WRONG way, as it's quite evident that it doesn't work. If I do as I do... I will be happy and not know any better who is behind the reason for it..... But if I test people by expecting a lot of them, I can be certain of unhappiness. So perhaps the former is the better route, albeit it the easy route.....

Vinyl Vixen

You know what.... it might be "coming back" and it might be annoying for the people who have had record collections for ages (understanding their value in the world of music), and will now just appear to form part of the trend for the moment........... I get that.. Hey, not ideal, but you know the truth... But for me, I have never owned a brand new record, until now, and that for me - puts Me at the beginning of a "repeat era". If you follow what i'm saying? Haha. This in theory means yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears from now when records aren't cool anymore I'll be someone who has a collection from my life and not just given and bought old ones that belonged to plenty others before me from a record store that resembles a good condition.. and that in itself... is not annoying to me, but rather Effing awesome! So here's to my collection and having a record trail one day of all that I was ever into............. <3

Scared face

A lot of things scare me... the thought of suffocating... spiders..... failing at anything...... spiders.... haha. But movies, nah.. I'm over that. I can watch a scary movie and I can be pretty on edge whilst watching, but afterwards I go about my day (coz its just a movie). Well, that all changed... when I watched The Conjuring. If you haven't watched it yet - please don't. If you think the Exorcist was bad, it had nothing on this. I closed my eyes in parts, I swore, it waaaaas ridiculous. I got home last night and watched 3 episodes of The goodwin games just so that I could laugh at some chilled, comical tv just to rest my mind. The fact that it was based on a true story kind of shakes up the nerves a little. I don't for a second believe that any of the shit I saw was going to happen to me when I got home, but when I say my mind was fkd, I was considering leaving the lamp light on. Hahaaha. So yeah for the first time I can say, yes I regret it... it was beyond my level of fear facing challenges.... Horror's are for he birds. I'm out. Comedies for the win............ oh and rom coms, coz fairytale love stories of "how it's meant to be" is at the very least tolerated to lose sleep over in my books. :)
