Where do I start?

So a trip to Umtata is never really one I look forward to, for obvious reasons. But today's trip really took the cake on things that can go wrong.... I don't really want to go into too much detail, and since I am warm and comfortable in the room at my bed and breakfast, thanks to an amaaazingly warm bath, I feel a little less agitated than i was earlier for the most part of the day. In short, it started off as the coldest day we have experienced this year so far and me having to get up and convince myself that work pays the bills, so I best face the day the way I had intended. The trip, well... Some people think that driving in the middle of the road whilst another person is trying to overtake them is somewhat smart... well it's not, leaves me wondering whether he made it home even, what with every car having to swerve for him so he could continue to drive all over the road.. I almost hit a goat. Yip, not sure who would have made it out after that, but a mountain pass and stray livestock - not a recipe for road safety. Either way I managed to pull myself together after that and exercise the last bit of patience I possessed to get me through the few towns (where jaywalking is encouraged and cars are mere obstacles) before ultimately reaching my greatly anticipated destination. I met my colleague for lunch - business lunches are generally covered by the company, and although not that hungry, I decided to have a burger - it was quite incredible to my surprise.. But when the bill read the amount that I did, I tried not to pass out, quick scan... ok, it seems that the lamb shank that mr (im hungry) ordered was R185. I almost died!! Hahaha @'I almost died' - personal joke. At this stage the only thing worse that could've happened was me being hijacked. Oh! I almost was.. but with my streetsmart savvy remembered not to open the door in that particular situation, so chose to ignore him and drive away before anything happened that might result in this blog not actually making it to publish.. All in a day, and even though today felt like a Monday, Thank God it's Friday tomorrow! Over and out.

Proverb of the day: 'If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow.'

A few things...

Easter weekend is officially done and there were a few things that I came to realise that I am over... Namely: Christian forwarded bbm's which state that if you don't forward on this message about God, you will inevitably be struck by lightening or end up in hell. I don't forward them, I get annoyed at the 0.1% chance that I am now potentially cursed, and then become more annoyed that I have people on my bbm whom I consider friends that would believe that crap! Then on facebook there is a link that states that a little girl is about to die if we don't get AB+ blood to her and 'please add this bbm pin and get in contact with her caregiver to donate'. I mean, are you JOKING with me? Worst part is that i recognised the name of the person who said she wants to help. So i put a few genetic facts behind the 'need' for that particular blood type and that fatal emergencies aren't handled via blackberry messenger to which I was shut down with a 'but what if it's NOT spam and she will die without our help? I closed that page then, before I said something I'm pretty sure I'd regret later. Personally I think social networking is slowly turning us into victims of living in a 'non-reality'. Seriously people, think before you speak, there are hundreds of 'friends' in your list that will judge you on what you say. And on a lighter note, I realised that the last car in the world I want now is a mini cooper, coz it feels like I currently reside in minicooperland. Seems there was a distinct date where all the coopers' retail value fell into a bracket of 'affordable' to the average joe salesman, and now there is an abundance of them on the road. So in theory, the majority of these people wanted to have a cool car (the ultimate homosapien need for status) and the coolest car that is now the same installment amount as an average VW polo on the market is the mini cooper. It is so cool, that even men are driving them..

Easter's here

Apparently the busiest times on the road are during Easter time, a lot of family travel going on and with that being said, a good friend of mine has asked me to house-sit whilst they're away living it up in Cape Town. A few challenges are faced when this happens.. Firstly when you're packing up the necessities from your current residing location, aka HOME, you are forced to figure out what your creature comforts actually are. Things that you might find yourself freaking out about when you just sit down to relax in the 'stand-in' home and realise you didn't bring. Example: I look down at the table and  realise that I have left the remote control at home for the PS3, which I remembered to unplug and pack so as to entertain my media needs for the next 5 days. Yet, now there is no ways and means to press play after all the behind-the-tv configuration I just spent 10 minutes doing. Oh well, DVD, that'll work. And it did. Challenge number two, there is a 5-year old that lives here, her child, not some random kid :) Irrelevant. So morning time = breakfast time, which for me = cereal time. To give you an idea of what I eat, it's usually brown and high-fibre. So I open the giant cereal cupboard to be faced with five different coloured cereals.. Choc Pronutro, Fruitloops, Cheerios, some pink puffed stuff that looks like it contains the amount of nutrition that a piece of cardboard might...and frosties. I closed the cupboard, thought for a moment and then grabbed the choc pronutro. Oh well... I'm pretty sure I'll live. While all these adjustments are going on, there is a missing cat named Milo, (which went missing before I arrived I's like to add). But yeah, stories.. Aren't there always? So it's Thursday, but it's actually Friday, because we've hit Easter weekend. Not sure what all it will hold, but I will be running a lot, and having a good time with some cool people. Starting tonight at the Stagedoor, a place where the meals don't taste good coz they're cheap, they just taste damn good and it's just damn cheap. Watch this space, for a pic upload just to prove it. Yes, it is a religious holiday, but whoever commercialized it into a religious holiday that involves chocolate... i like you... Happy Easter!

A new week

So I'm pleased to say that New Balance is pretty cool. I had my concerns, but after Saturday realised that they're pretty awesome. Some confused, half asleep runners looked at my feet with questioning expressions. The question being, 'What's this chick on about?' Which made me love them even more! The cake got done, the gifts were bought, events were attended and it all ended with a sunset on the horizon... But this Monday has brought (aside from work) a 4-day week, dance class, week 2 of training, and plenty to look forward to. So far, stress free, but it is 8:30AM on a Monday, it won't be long before someone tries to jump the Worraker Road stop street and kill me, or a telesales person calls trying to sell me something I clearly don't need - else I'd have it - Imagine that? But yeah, new week, let's see what happens...

Just something cool I read the other day:
"You see things that are and say 'Why?' But I dream of things that never were and say 'Why not?'"

My new running shoes

So I got some stuff done today.. here's what they look like, FINALLY... after much searching....

So it's Friday...

I never ever believed those people who'd say they 'forgot to eat' because they were so consumed with whatever it was they were doing and that meal times just passed by unnoticed. I was like, 'suuuure, ok'. My skeptism was purely based around the fact that I NEVER 'forget' to eat. Well, let me just say that while I should really be working, and on top of that have a number of personal errands to run, and it is now midday - I have not yet eaten. I literally just forced myself away from my PC to go make a cup of coffee. I do feel now that I have played around a bit on day 2 of my 'blogging experience' and have submitted a post, that I can officially return to the other reality I am a part of.. This is my 'forget about what others are thinking and doing' space, but for now, I need to get back to reading emails, looking for new running shoes, creating playlists for a birthday and buying ingredients for my godchild's birthday cake - which I have been elected to bake on Sunday. Lucky me. A day in the life....

Getting Started...

Ok, so.. um.. apparently it’s been the ‘in thing’ for a while and I guess where I’m usually the ‘early innovator’ (for those of you who studied marketing), this time round I am the ‘late adopter’ or in lamens terms… a sheep. So I guess all I can say is that I am on my PC all day most days - and being the talker, writer, philosophizer that I like to be mostly… I figured, what the hell? And so here I am…. getting started. I don’t promise that it’ll always be entertaining.. but then again, you’re on the web, you can view a million other pages.
